Every year around this time the 5th and 6th grade students are a little sad they no longer can participate in the voting of the Chickadee Award. These 10 Chickadee nominee books are definitely worthy of sharing so I tried something new. Students in grades 5 and 6 previewed the 10 nominees and then completed their own March Madness bracket. I have been reading aloud the nominees and next week they will get to compare their bracket choices to the actual winner!

It's almost time for our students in grades K-4 to vote on their favorite Chickadee Award Nominee. Our students get to enjoy all 10 books from a variety of guest readers within our school. After each book students discuss the big idea and share their favorite part as well as determine a star rating. They keep track of this with their very own Chickadee Award Booklet.
