Web Sites

Last year we started creating web sites and weren't really able to complete them so we are going to try again!  It will be a little different this time around.  We will use Google Sites and we will focus on a topic of your interest within the science curriculum.
Please complete this brief form.

Columbus Day

After returning from our nice long weekend I thought it would be interesting to check out a wonderful nonfiction book that really questions who discovered America?  Russell Freedman is the author of Who Was First? Discovering the Americas.  This book takes a look at other explorers that may have set foot on America before Christopher Columbus.  Freedman writes about the Chinese explorers, under the command of Admiral Zheng He, and the Vikings, under the command of Leif Eriksson.  So, what do you think after reading Who Was First? Discovering the Americas?  Do you think America was discovered before Columbus and why?

Celebrate the Freedom to Read!

Think for yourself and let others do the same!  In celebration of Banned Books Week we read a classic book that is often challenged...Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.

This book has been challenged for many reasons:
~Witchcraft and supernatural elements.
~A spirited child.
~Max is sent to bed without supper.
~Max's tantrum.

What do you think about Where the Wild Things Are? Should it be banned?  Explain your answer.
