Today in the 3rd grade library class, we read Every Autumn Comes the Bear by Jim Arnosky. This beautiful book describes what the bear does every Autumn before settling down for his winter hibernation. Think about some things you do every Autumn. Every Autumn I go apple picking, what do you do every Autumn?

We just finished reading The Day-Glo Brothers: The True Story of Bob and Joe Switzer's Bright Ideas and Brand-New Colors by Chris Barton and now it is your task to answer one of the following questions (answer the question by commenting on this post):
1. What problems has daylight fluorescence solved? Can you think of any problems it might have created?
2. Popular Science made Joe want to build his own black light. What have you been inspired to do by something you read?
3. Why do you think so many of the illustrations in this book are in black and white?
4. Have you ever been involved in an accident that led to something good?
Check out this link to see how regular fluorescence and daylight fluorescence work.

It has been busy getting back into the "swing of things" here in the library. I am still having a hard time deciding which new book to read! There are lots of books to be shelved now that books are being checked out. If you are interested in volunteering in the library to shelve books please give me a call at the school (371-2160) or you can email me: firstname.lastname@example.org. Any time you can devote makes a huge difference!
